Call for Submissions – An Adventure of Your Own Choosing
You, an ex-con, are stranded in a desert with only your social worker and her boyfriend. There’s no limit to what can happen when you CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE;
or, to avoid potential copyright problems… There’s no limit to what can happen when you are involved in an ADVENTURE OF YOUR OWN CHOOSING.
AAOYOC is a flash fiction anthology with a twist. Writers are provided with guidelines regarding character and backstory, but are free to explore the decisions and interactions of the characters as they deal with themes of isolation (personal, physical, social) and confusion. Contributors are encouraged to submit up to ten pieces each 20-500 words in length.
The stories can be 10 connected parts of the same arc or 10 random occurrences, so long as they fit the guidelines and backstory. Once submitted, the pieces will be edited together AS a choose your own adventure, with numbers to link them. The logic that links events may sometimes be natural (people walk to a mountain, next story is on a mountain) or unnatural (people walk to a mountain, next story is drunk in a desert bar). The discontinuity of logic will further the themes of the anthology and give the piece a real ambition.
The guidelines are basic and not in the least bit stringent, and are outlined in the submission PDF below, which you should download and send to all of your literate friends with aspirations for publication.
