Today, the first run of Blank State volume Zero: Condpocalypse Now! graced my hands. All 150 books are blocking the exit to my apartment and they weigh far too much when you put them all together. But they’re available. Online through this website or at one of many fine retailers at the beginning of next week. You can start by picking them up at This Ain’t the Rosedale Library in Kensington Market here in Toronto. Or buy them online.

Or bump into me on the street and introduce yourself. I’ll be there, books in hand.

La définition des objectifs du Wooden Rocket Press

September 25th, 2009 | 2 Comments | Posted in WRP News

This is the home of Toronto’s DIY alt-lit publishing company, Wooden Rocket Press.

WRP is geared to bringing unconventional literature and literary forms up from the underground and into your hands. From pasquinades to blogs to cyclical novels and choose your own adventure stories, WRP is going to make DIY publishing mean something.

This site will serve as a news server and store, a home and home base for all things Wooden Rocket Press. As the head publisher and all around good guy of this company, I will also use it as a story blog and outlet for things that I may think need to be written (but before you hoist your “burn the blogsphere” banners, you opinionated bunch, you) I will also be outsourcing this blog to qualified and brilliant writers, as a sort of immediate indie-publishing effort. Lets face it, blogging is the new publishing. And publishing is the new reading. And reading is coming back.

The idea of the wooden rocket is a close one to me. It means to get to the moon any way you can, even if you have to build the rocket yourself. If that definition doesn’t strike a match in you, then please feel free to use it as a hilarious dick joke. Whatever you need, we got it.

So look around, get pumped and stay tuned. This is going to be something.
